How to solder copper wire. This is used to neutralize the corrosive properties of the other solution and to further clean the wires. Your solder will be applied opposite from the iron on top of the wire. Try not to touch those surfaces with your fingers.
Solder the wire directly to the pad. Remove the soldering iron and wait a few seconds to let the soldered. Aluminum wire became popular in the 1970s because it conducts electricity well and is less expensive than copper.
Continue melting the solder until theres a thin layer of solder covering all of the exposed wire. This will heat the wire to allow your solder to melt. Slip the copper wire under the jumper and bend the wire over the jumper so the connection iss snug.
Heat the copper not the solder. Place soldering iron under the wire. To connect with potentiostat I connect the Ni foam with copper wire and soldering in the joint.
To prevent any contact between copper wire and electrolyte I use PTFE tube to cover the copper. This is an acid-free solder that contains a flux in the core of the solder. Keep the soldering iron on the bottom of the wire to continue heating it.
