How To Remove Burnt Rubber From Exhaust Pipes
Supertrapp stainless exhaust on my 89 Honda Hawk GT.
How to remove burnt rubber from exhaust pipes. If you ride youve probably had boot rubber or plastic debris stick to hot exhaust pipes before. If it has cooled down get the exhaust hot and try oven cleaner. If you cannot then cut until you can cut no more.
Let the pipe heat up by idling the engine. I would try acetone first. If the material is fairly easy to melt you may be able to use and old iron to melt or soften it up and then wipe it away with a cloth.
Allow the exhaust to. Keep cutting and removing until you reach the adhesive layer. Try to scrape away the adhesive with a razor blade.
Soft Scrub bath cleaner. The fineness will protect the chrome from being scraped up but to really help the pipe look good as new or to help clean up the scrapes from previous failed cleaning attempts whoops pick up some chromemetal polish. Ive heard that Easy-Off oven cleaner works for thisjust make sure you do it outsidewhen I had a plastic bag fall and hit my pipes I took a short ride then used a damp cloth to clean off the residue.
Apply the cleaner to the melted shoe fragments to rehydrate them. I need to know if anyone has had success removing their wifes boot rubber from a BLACK exhaust. Wash your motorcycle exhaust with this solution and a clean rag.
